Our Story
Our farm name, Ten Hens Farm, came not long after moving to our 1910 farmhouse in 2007. In exchange for helping an area farmer build her hoophouse, she gave us what we thought were ten hens. We named our farm and began to chase our dreams. We soon realized we had five hens and five roosters - four of which found their way to the stew pot. We eventually replaced those roosters - and even got up to around 40 hens - but "9 Hens and a Rooster" didn't have quite the same ring as Ten Hens.

We are a family of four running a year-round, sustainable farm located in Bath, Michigan - 10 miles Northeast of Lansing. We grow a variety of vegetables on 3 acres, in six hoophouses totaling just over 17,000 square feet, and in one heated greenhouse. Besides farming, Dru is the Director of government and stakeholder relations in Michigan State University's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and College of Veterinary Medicine.
